As a part of the 40 city “KNOW” educational tour that went all over the United States teaching filmmakers the Stillmotion way of filming documentaries, we produced a 350+ page book that layed out all the information we discussed on the tour. I created the design, illustrations, and layed out the entired book.
Here's the kicker: it was done in 3 weeks time.

Take Action Online Course
Take Action is an online course for on the rise filmmakers. We set forth to give this course more life than just an educational class, it was an adventure that actually did ask for you to take action and go outside. These 9 challenges were an adventure, and sticking with the brand guidelines I created for Stillmotion Education, we created new artwork that emoted this idea.
Friends Of Trees
A wonderful collaboration with Frank Creative, Amy Ruppel, and Stump'd Design (me and Sarah Gensert). We created an entire campaign for Friends of Trees called "Plant It Portland" to help plant over 16,000 trees in the Portland Metro Area. The campaign was so successful that Friends of Tree's adopted the look for their own identity.

The reintroduction of the AND1 Brand to a new market meant updating their look and official icon, which was named “Faceless / Raceless”. The owner of And1 wanted it to be a breakdown of the character into a more icon based look. These are just some of the different illustrations that helped lead to the final and official design (seen right). The following are other collateral pieces create to push the brand further.
Hi-Tec Office Environmental
As a part of the Hi-Tec headquarters setting up operation in Portland, OR, they wanted art direction in the look and feel of their new office. Utilizing local companies and artists, we created an environment that reflected the core principals of the company along with the Pacific Northwest.
A short film I art directed called My Utopia. I was in charge of establishing the look and feel of the piece, using distinct keywords given to me by the director: Internalize, Serve, Hope, Speak, Emergence. From these keywords I created the concept of the shots being symmetrical (emergence), as to mimic the patterns in her life, as well as the symmetrical layout of the book. In each shot, there is also a pattern (dots, plaid, etc). Her yellow dress and the direct lighting on her face in each shot spoke to the keyword "hope." It also took place in very early 80's so all of the shots were somewhat aged in their feel (Internalize). With the help of a small team we were able to assemble sets, wardrobe, and props that would be found in the early 80's.

SMAPP iPhone App
Available for free download on the iPhone. This app is a filmmakers "second best friend" in the field (the first being the KNOW book). It gives filmmakers the power to organize their shots, learn more through free tutorials, select the right lens for their shot, select the best trip or monopod for their shot, and even organize their shoot on the fly!
